Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood on Saturday night staged a demonstration in the capital Amman in support of deposed Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi, stressing that the latter remains the "legitimate" president of Egypt, and blasted what they considered a "military coup" in Egypt.

In a protest held in front of the University of Jordan Mosque in Amman Saturday night following Ramadan Taraweeh nightly prayers, hundreds of Islamists blasted Egyptian military leader Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, chanting "Out Out al-Sisi, Morsi is my president."

General Supervisor of the Jordan Muslim Brotherhood Sheikh Hammam Saeed said in a speech before protesters that what is unfolding in Egypt is a "conspiracy scheme" against deposed president Morsi, carried out by the United States and Israel to topple the Muslim Brotherhood President.

"They [Israel and US] do not want a free Egypt that seeks to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem," Saeed said.

Saeed emphasized that Morsi was democratically elected by the ballot boxes that represents Egyptian popular will, "he will continue to have the political legitimacy until his term concludes in accordance with the Egyptian constitution."

Saeed denounced the Egyptian military attack on Pro-Morsi demonstrators in Egypt, which according to media reports exceeded 75 in the past 24 hours, expressing "They killed them while they were kneeling in prayer because they are free, because they combat corruption, and because they want freedom and political legitimacy."

Protesters raised banners that read "Sisi's rule is illegitimate," "Listen you sleaze [al-Sisi], the blood of our brothers is not cheap," and raised pictures of Morsi.

The demonstration caused a brief traffic jam in the vital street, with police directing traffic until the demonstration ended Saturday night.
