Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – The Jordanian government announced on Sunday an increase on fuel prices as of Monday, July 1st, for a duration of one month.

In part of its monthly price of oil derivatives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade's pricing committee announced an increase on the price of unleaded 90-octane gasoline, raising the price to JD 0.785 per liter, after it remained unchanged in the month of June set at JD 0.765.

The price of unleaded 95-octane gasoline will also be raised from JD 0.93 to JD 0.95 per liter.

The prices of Diesel and Kerosene will go up JD 0.10 for the month of July, a raise from JD 0.635 to JD 0.645 per liter.

The price of the cooking gas cylinder is set to remain at JD 10, according to the Ministry's announcement.

The government instated a new policy last November to float prices of oil derivatives based on price fluctuation in world markets, thereby lifting subsidies in a decision that led to a hike in prices of fuel and gas cylinders.

The new policy provoked major protests and riots throughout the kingdom following the November 14 decision to lift subsidies amid difficult economic conditions afflicting the country.
