Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said youths are the present and future of the country who will carry the banner and the torch by adopting thoughts, principles and visions that will spare Jordan events and chaos witnessed by several countries in the region.
During a meeting on Saturday with about 700 youths from all over the Kingdom, Ensour noted that Jordan has been able to escape regional events; thanks to the wisdom of its leadership and awareness of its people, notably youths, to set an example of security and stability.
He pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II took the initiative when he called more than two years ago for constitutional reforms which became a reality and contributed to cementing democracy, the separation of the three powers and what has followed of political reforms, which were crowned by holding the parliamentary elections and the upcoming municipal elections within a few weeks.
The prime minster urged youths to actively participate in the upcoming municipal elections which are as important as the parliamentary elections, because the municipalities are entrusted with services and development which concern citizens.
Ensour noted that Jordanians are mindful people who stood up with full responsibility to those who tried to exploit the repugnant division, sectarianism and regionalism, noting that "united we stand and no force will be able to shake our national security." He warned that violence and violence at universities are unacceptable and contradict religion, values and law, stressing that restoring the state's esteem has become the demand of all Jordanians who want a strong, just, fair, and a firm state that enforces the law without oppression and brutality.
Furthermore, the prime minister briefed youths on the tough economic situation, challenges facing the state's public budget and measures to be taken by the government to alleviate losses suffered by the national electric company.
He affirmed that the government is moving a head with enhancing the austerity measures and rationalizing consumption, noting that the government is carrying out such a decision with courage and hope everyone will understand reasons behind it.
