Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A fire that erupted in the southern natural reserve town of Dana Wednesday night engulfed over 30 bearing fruit trees and over five dunums of woodlands, a Civil Defense Department (CDD) official said.
CDD director in the southern governorate of Tafileh, Colonel badr al-Budour said that the fire, suspected of being an act of arson, engulfed and destroyed over five dunums of bearing fruit trees, including olive, peaches, and grape vines in the natural reservation of Dana.
Tafileh CDD cadres managed to extinguish the fire and contain it from spreading.
Residents in the tourist-destination town said that the fire was an act of arson, noting that Wednesday's fire is the eighth such incident witnessed in the reserve town in two years.
Residents called on authorities to investigate the incident to identify the arsonists and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
