Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A woman was found dead in her home in Sweileh, northern Amman, no more than six hours after she was reportedly beaten to death with a sharp object on the head, the Media Department of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced.

The Northern Amman Police Department received a tip Sunday afternoon of a body of a woman in her 40s in her home in Sweileh district.

A team of criminal investigators from the PSD immediately headed to the scene where they found her body drenched in blood.

The Medical Examiner and Public Prosecutor concluded that the time of death was not more than six hours before the discovery of the body, which was referred to the National Center for Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem exam.

The investigations and medical reports revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma as a result of numerous beatings to the head by a long sharp object or stick by a suspect who witnesses said they had seen him engage in an altercation with the victim in the street days before.

Forensic evidence and witnesses' statements lead the concerned authorities to the suspect, who is reportedly an Arab national who lives nearby the victim.

The man was found and arrested and PSD confirmed that he confessed to the crime, saying that he took her to her home, beat her to death, and left the scene.

The case was transferred to the Public Prosecutor of the Criminal Court.
