Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces denied distributing gas masks to Jordanian soldiers deployed on the northern Jordanian-Syrian borders, according to a military source.
An authorized military source denied in statements to Ammon News on Wednesday that the Jordanian military distributed gas masks to soldiers to protect them from possible chemical weapons attacks.
The source stressed however that the armed forces is concerned first and foremost with protecting the country, its citizens, and its soldiers, adding that "the military has the right to train and protect its soldiers as it deems appropriate."
Noting that the conditions on the Jordanian-Syrian borders remain "the same" as they have been since the eruption of the conflict in neighboring Syria, the source said that "there is nothing new in this matter."
It is noted that the Syrian opposition has accused the forces of Bashar Al-Assad's regime of using chemical weapons, claims that Damascus has repeatedly denied.
