Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra)--Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Hayel Srour met on Tuesday with a delegation from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between the House and the UNDP.
Srour said the House was ready to accept ideas that would contribute to developing parliamentary work, noting that the House is interested and serious about this issue.
"The House has a major task in the legislative and monitoring fields, mainly with regard to comprehensive reforms carried out by Jordan to achieve a better future for Jordanians and enhance democracy, pluralism and public participation in decision making," he said.
Discussions during the meeting also focused on the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Jordan.
Members of the delegation also presented a briefing on the UNDP's activities, through which the program aims to develop parliamentary work and cooperate with parliaments to serve the public’s interests.
