House motions no-confidence against govt to oust Israeli ambassador

12-05-2013 08:18 PM

Ammon News - * 87 MPs sign no-confidence motion

AMMONNEWS - A parliamentary memo motioning to censure confidence in Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour's government circulated in the Lower House of Parliament on Sunday, citing government's lack of action in implementing its consensus decision last week to expel the Israeli Ambassador from Jordan.

87 MPs signed the memo, adopted by Deputy Yahya Saud, calling for censuring confidence against the government.

The Censure motion cited lack of response from the government to the demands of "representatives of the people," who voted unanimously last week to expel the Israeli ambassador Daniel Nevo and recall Jordan's Ambassador in Tel Aviv Walid Obeidat.

The vote, although non-binding, passed unanimously in parliament last week over escalating Israeli aggression in occupied Jerusalem and violations of Jewish settlers and occupation forces against Al Aqsa Mosque.

Earlier on Sunday, 29 MPs signed a memo adopted by MP Mahmoud Kharabsheh calling on the government to inform the parliament officially of the measures it has taken in regards to the Lower House's demand to expel the Israeli Ambassador.

The memo asked the government to clarify its measures towards the motion, or face a no-confidence vote from parliament.
