Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Minister of Public Sector Development Khlaif Al Khawaldeh met on Tuesday with U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Stuart Jones to review ways to improve cooperation as Jordan continues to reform and develop the public sector in the Kingdom.
The minister briefed the U.S. envoy on the government's four-year action plan to develop the public sector. He said that the plan would be carried out through programs and reform projects to develop public administration and its agencies and departments.
Khawaldeh also spoke of discussion papers authored by His Majesty King Abdullah II to draw a path towards reform and democracy in Jordan, noting that a gradual approach towards building a democratic system is the basis for success.
"One of the main requirements for a successful democratic transition is the development of the governmental apparatus on the basis of professionalism and neutrality, away from politicizing work," the minister said. The government, he added, is revisiting and amending professional legislation and regulations governing policy and decision-making in the Kingdom.
Jones emphasised the importance of the government's programs to develop the public sector. He said the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was ready to support those programs.
