Author: Hi, the region heading for a war?
Israeli Friend: What do you mean?
Author: Americans under Israeli pressure heading towards attacking Syria?
Israeli Friend: I was afraid of that
Author: So you think it will happen?
Israeli Friend: I'm afraid it can happen, considering the Israeli influence
Author: But Is Israel aware the repercussions of such war will be beyond control?
Israeli Friend: I think so, but the problem is that Netanyahu might ignore such considerations in order to placate the settlers
Author: It's serious gambling with high risk for all not least for Israeli people at large
Israeli Friend: I agree, but I'm afraid the Israeli government would do anything to distract public attention to another arena
Author: But the responsible media is not highlighting such repercussions to bottom up pressure to avoid such confrontation? I mean the media in Israel addressing foremost the people of Israel.
Israeli Friend: I remember that until about 2000, the Israeli media reflected the views of the peace camp, but now most journalists are trying not to rock the consensus
Author: What consensus? Consensus over war with destructive repercussions for all including Israel?
Israeli Friend: I remember last November most Israelis were nervous that the Israeli government did not invade Gaza
Author: To achieve what? Re-annex Gaza? At what price and for what purpose?
Israeli Friend: Well, I think Israeli society is very warlike today
Author: But why? Instead reaching peace through good neighborhood?
Israeli Friend: What can I do?
Author: Endless War? Endless vicious circle? Violence feeding Violence? Lose-lose outcome?
Israeli Friend: Don't you know this already? Kissinger understood this principle long time ago
Author: To achieve what? Oh I forgot. Yes so true to clean Syria and the region from Syrian Chemical Weapons, as it was the case with Iraq and Mass Destructive Weapons!!!! Look to Iraq today, how safe, secure and violence free it has become.
Israeli Friend: OK. I have to go to bed good night.
Author: Lets pray for the region and for all its peoples and foremost for the decision makers of the region including those of Jordan to be blessed with all the needed wisdom to learn from history and not to head towards further destruction of the region with global repercussions.
