Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The northern border crossing with Syria has been closed for Jordanians attempting to cross into neighboring Syria, Jordanian authorities said on Monday.
The source said that the Jaber Border Crossing has been closed in one direction, noting that Jordanians will no longer be permitted to exit Jordan and cross into the crisis-ridden neighboring Syria through the Jaber border crossing.
The border crossing remains open for entry into Jordan, the authorities noted.
The one-way closure comes in an effort to protect lives of Jordanians considering the escalating violence and bombings witnessed at the border region between Syria and Jordan.
Free Syrian Army units were reported to have captured several strategic border areas earlier this week, provoking retaliation from the Syrian regime forces attempting to reclaim military border areas.
