Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood (JMB) movement said on Wednesday that it has information revealing that Jordan's security and government agencies may resort to using a 'Plan B' to embellish election results and manipulate official statistics on voter turnout.
JMB said in a press statement that the government's official numbers on voter turnout in Wednesday's parliamentary elections are "untrue," citing "very weak turnout to the polls."
The statement, issued by the Islamist Movement's so-called "Election Monitoring and Observation Unit," claimed that the government and security forces are gearing towards resorting to Plan B to deal with the "comprehensive failure of the electoral process," according to its expression, and increase the percentages of voter turnout.
The movement, which is boycotting Wednesday's parliamentary elections, said that it is monitoring the elections through its various branches in governorates.
"The numbers we have observed through information we received reveal that until 3:00 PM, voter turnout in Amman, Irbid, and Zarqa did not surpass 12%, and 25 % in other governorates," the statement said, bringing the total average percentage of voter turnout throughout the kingdom to 16.7%.
JMB stated that a large number of violations have been committed during the voting process, including vote-buying, mass voting, lack of voter ink and ease of removing it, campaigning in front of voting stations, internet disruptions, breaking of locks of ballot boxes, and various incidents of clashes between supporters of candidates and gun fire exchange.
The statement also claimed that it received information regarding use of forged voter identification cards, "without any measures taken against this."
