Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications and Minister of Culture Samih Maytah said on Monday that discussion papers issued by His Majesty King Abdullah provide a vision for the future of the country and represent a reformist political approach.
He told directors of official media institutions and editors of local radio and satellite TV stations during a meeting at Petra headquarters to deal in-depth with the King's vision to turn it into a course of action for all governments and political forces "regardless their political and intellectual classification." "The royal vision offers a management methodology for the upcoming phase, including managing the dispute over the details in a manner that reserves the right of all the state's social and political components to take positions towards all issues," he said.
He stressed the key role of the media in the coming stage to build a national path that embraces reform and "positively" galvanizes institutions for further achievements along the reform track.
Maytah told the senior journalists and media directors that media outlets should rise to the level of the King's discourse and citizens' awareness "to serve Jordan and its future, but not to curry political favour with anyone", adding that the royal discussion papers represent "a qualitative addition" in the country's political life.
Commenting on upcoming parliamentary elections, the minister said participation with awareness and/or boycotting with prudence both serve the electoral process, calling for putting in place all the means to turn the polls into a success.
"The elections are a political process we are eager to democratically make a success", he said, urging respect of all opinions regarding the elections.
