1518 candidates, 213 women officially register for elections candidacy

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - On the last day of the candidacy registration process, 1518 candidates, ( 1305 male, 213 females)filed their paperwork and paid the candidacy registration fees to run in the parliamentary elections (local and national)lists, set for January 23th, 2013, The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) spokesperson Hussein Bani Hani said.

IEC received 60 applications for national lists as 820 candidates including (84) women submitted their candidacy application within the national lists.

Meanwhile, the total constituency level's candidacy applications reach to 689, including (192) women Bani Hani added.


According to the elections Law "mixed system", voters will have two votes, one vote at the local district and another at the national level to vote for a closed proportional list.

the IEC will spend one week (7) days examining the applications to announce the last list of candidates and IEC have the right to turn down any application if the candidate does not meet requirements.
