PM chairs meeting for Governorates Development Fund

Ammon News - Amman,(Petra)--Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Wednesday chaired a meeting for the Governorates Development Fund, GDF that focused on progress of the fund's work, accomplishments and challenges facing it.

At the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Hatim Halawani, Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) Yarub Qudah, Esnour was briefed on the GDF's work mechanism as well as financial tools being used.

Qudah also reviewed accomplishments that have been achieved since JEDCO was entrusted with supervising the fund, and measures taken to accelerate the implementation of its projects.

The prime minister highlighted the importance of building on accomplishments and providing funds needed to implement the GDF's projects that aim at achieving development and creating job opportunities.

The GDF is designed to help citizens run their own businesses, starting with providing them technical assistance and training.

His Majesty King Abdullah ordered the creation of the JD150 million GDF in July, 2011 to finance development plans for the country’s governorates
