AMMONNEWS - Dozens of activists staged a protest Thursday evening near the Second Circle in Jabal Amman calling for tangible political and economic reforms.
The demonstrators chanted slogans against the government's recent measures, which according to their expression, obstructs the reform process and exacerbates Jordan's already deteriorating political and economic conditions.
Several youth and popular movements in addition to political parties took part in the protest, which also called for the release of pro-reform activists recently arrested and detained over charges of "opposing the existing regime."
Activists blasted the government's Elections Law, blasting it as a useless legislation that "does not achieve the aspirations of people."
Protesters also raised placards against a the recent production of a film in the U.S. deemed offensive to Islam's figure, Prophet Muhammad, and Muslims.
Security and Gendarmerie forces cordoned off the Second Circle amidst a major traffic jam that coincided with regular Thursday evening traffic in the area.
