Randa Ayoubi and Salah Oqbi Announced as Winners of Ernst & Young’s ‘Entrepreneur

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – Ernst & Young Jordan has announced Rubicon’s Randa Ayoubi as Entrepreneur Of The Year and Jordan Chalk’s Salah Oqbi as Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year for the year 2011 during an award ceremony held under royal patronage on Monday 12th March, 2012, at the Grand Hyatt Amman Hotel. Attending the ceremony on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II was His Excellency Jafar Hassan, Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, as well as notable government figures.
Ayoubi was chosen as Jordan’s Entrepreneur Of The Year by an independent panel of judges based on the criteria of entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance, strategic direction, economic impact, innovation, personal integrity and influence.
“I am very proud to have received this prestigious business award. This honor spurs me to diligently serve the local business sector and support our national economy. I would like to thank Ernst & Young Jordan for making the award program a success in the Kingdom, as it has helped stir positive competition in the entrepreneurial scene,” said Ayoubi, who will be representing Jordan at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in Monte Carlo in June 2012.

“It is with great pleasure that I represent my country at the global competition. This is an unparalleled opportunity to meet with entrepreneurs from around the world, share notes and benefit from their experience, which will in turn enable me to contribute to Jordan’s economy and its local business sector,” she added.

In turn, Oqbi expressed pleasure at winning the title of Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year for 2011, saying, “I could not be prouder of standing side by side with this exceptional group of Jordanian entrepreneurs to compete for the title of Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year. This distinction has deepened my resolve to continue my journey and pursue my ambitions through new accomplishments that benefit my country and community. This award program has acted as a positive stimulus for Jordan’s business scene, and I commend Ernst & Young Jordan for it.”

During his address at the ceremony, Waddah Barkawi, Partner at Ernst & Young and Entrepreneur Of The Year Program Leader at Ernst & Young Jordan, said, “We are proud to be showcasing the achievements of these outstanding Jordanian entrepreneurs.

Celebrating such visionary men and women is our duty and responsibility towards our community. We firmly believe that encouraging entrepreneurial spirit and innovation is paramount to achieving socioeconomic development and prosperity. As such, Ernst & Young Jordan annually holds the Entrepreneur Of The Year award program so that it may serve as a platform for recognizing achievers and encouraging entrepreneurship.

Ayoubi and Oqbi vied against eight other finalists for the titles of Entrepreneur Of The Year and Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year. The 2011 finalists included: Fares Sayegh from Ro’ya TV; Dr. Hassib Sahyoun from MedLabs Consultancy Group; Dr. Khaled Sharif from Sharif Eye Centers; Mais Sukkar from RX Solutions; Dr. Mohammad Al-Banna from Innomedics; Samar Habayeb from Silsal; and Tamer Qarrain and Zaidoun Karadsheh from Media Plus.
