Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Foundation for International Community Assistance (FINCA ) Jordan started disbursing micro-loans to small and medium businesses in its new branch in Northern Shuneh to serve clients of Al Koura, Al Wasatieh, and Taibah areas.
CEO of FINCA Jordan John Yancura on Monday told Petra that after a year of opening Deir Allah branch, client numbers increased to more than 500 in Northern Shuneh. FINCA Jordan, he added, felt the need to open this new branch to meet expectations of its clients and to serve a larger segment of the population.
Yancura added that the new branch came within FINCA's plan to renew its branches and expand its operations in the Kingdom, expecting the majority of clients to be low–income women entrepreneurs.
FINCA Jordan started operations in late 2007 placing its Head Office in Amman, and continued expansion to eight branches in Jordan; in Amman, Zarqa, Jerash, Dier Alla, Sahab, Ziezya and Nothern Shuneh.
Until now FINCA Jordan has granted 44.000 loans worth JD19 million given to more than 14,000 active borrowers, the majority of them are women entrepreneurs that own household or registered businesses in different sectors. It also targets family businesses and entrepreneurs in under-served rural areas of the Kingdom by offering its clients Islamic micro – loans in compliance to Shari’a laws.
