23-11-2011 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Top editorial management of Al Arab Al Yawm daily newspaper on Tuesday submitted their resignations from their posts, citing disagreements with the new owner.

Editor-in-Chief Fahad Khitan, Board Chairman Taher Odwan, and Head of the Economics News Department and prominent columnist Salameh Daraawi submitted their resignations on Tuesday over differences in editorial policies with the newspaper's new owner.

Khitan, who has headed the editorial management of the independent newspaper since February told Ammon News that his resignation comes as a result of differences in perspectives between the editorial management and the visions of the new owner, Elias Jreisat, who took over the ownership of the daily in early August.

Khitan stressed however his respect for the vision of the new owner in development, managing, and marketing the newspaper.

"I preferred to leave the newspaper while it is in its peak of performance," Khitan said, hoping that the incoming editorial team would be capable of upholding the newspaper's accomplishments.
