Lower House bans Jordanians who hold multiple citizenship to become ministers

AMMONNEWS – The lower house of parliament banned the Jordanians who hold other states citizenship to be a minister or equivalent thereof unless he/she is a Jordanian, provided that he /she dose not hold any citizenship of any other state.

The Parliament approved the draft constitutional amendment of 42’s article on Sunday’s morning session.

82 number of parliament members voted in favour, 18 against, 3 abstained and 17MPs remained absent.

The lower house certified the recommendation of its legal committee which agreed to the government proposition in the draft constitutional amendment, and approved the legal Committee's recommendation to amend the article 42 of the draft amendment by adding the words ‘equivalent thereof '.
