Ammon News - Bahrain - The Jordanian women's football team was late Thursday crowned champion at the Women's Football Cup Arabia 2010 in Bahrain after defeating Egypt 1-0.
The Egyptians dominated the match but a Jordanian goal that came in the dying minutes of the second half dashed any hopes of an Egyptian comeback.
Egypt and Jordan, who met at Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa south of the Bahraini capital Manama, had qualified for the finals after clearing the semi-finals hurdles against Palestine and Bahrain respectively on Monday.
Egypt secured a 4-0 win against Palestine, while Jordan shattered the Bahraini host's hopes to qualify by defeating them 3-0.
A face-off between Palestine and Bahrain on Wednesday to determine the third place winner in the semi-regional tournament saw Bahrain emerge as a victor after ending the game in their favour 5-1.
In addition to claiming the crown, Jordan will also receive training in Germany, as part of the build-up ahead of the 2011 Women's World Cup there.
The Arabia tournament, organized jointly by Bahrain and Germany, included four other women football teams from Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
