12-09-2026 09:48 AM

Ammon News - Talks between Israel and Lebanon that were scheduled to ‌take place in Rome next week have been postponed and will occur instead in October, Axios reported on Friday, citing a U.S. official.

Jewish holidays, a Paris conference and UN General Assembly preparations meant participants could not ‌convene in Rome, Axios cited a source as saying.

The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors are due to meet in Washington, according to the post on X.

Lebanon and Israel have held seven rounds of direct negotiations since April, five in Washington and the last two in Rome. Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah has repeatedly rejected the talks and urged the government to halt the negotiations.

The sixth round resulted in a preliminary agreement to designate two "pilot areas" to begin implementing the Israeli withdrawal.
