Ammon News - Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mazen Qadi, announced the House passed 19 out of 23 laws submitted by the government, representing an 83% completion rate.

Qadi noted the House discussed the Audit Bureau's 2024 report as part of its efforts to enhance oversight of public funds and solidify principles of transparency and accountability.

According to a House statement issued on Tuesday, Qadi said members of parliament submitted 770 oversight questions.

Of these, he announced 577 (75%) inquiries were answered, while 193 remained unanswered, adding that 41 questions were included on the agenda and discussed in the plenary session.

During a press conference with media representatives to highlight the MPs' achievements during the second ordinary session, he stated 8 parliamentary inquiries were submitted, 2 of which were answered, while 6 remained pending.

Additionally, he noted 62 proposals and eight draft laws were referred to the relevant committees.

He said 74 parliamentary memoranda were submitted, 52 of which were answered, while 22 remained unsettled.

He remarked the "Other Business" clause was activated, allowing lawmakers to raise urgent issues.

Approximately 243 questions and interventions were submitted, which were answered either directly or through written responses, he pointed out.

Regarding parliamentary diplomacy, he confirmed the implementation of 65 activities, mainly meetings and official visits with heads of state, parliaments, and ambassadors, which strengthened Jordan's regional and international position.

He indicated that the House issued 20 political statements and declarations reflecting Jordan's "steadfast" position, which emphasized that the Palestinian cause was a central focus of parliamentary work and reiterated the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites.

Qadi stated parliamentary committees held 353 meetings, while the Permanent Committee held 10 meetings and the Executive Committee held 7.

Commending the role of the Jordanian Women Parliamentarians Forum in supporting and empowering women politically and legislatively, Qadi noted the media is a "key partner" in achieving oversight, raising awareness, promoting transparency, and strengthening accountability.
