Ammon News - AMMAN A Korean businessman has said that he planned to launch a $25 million noodles factory that would turn Jordan into a regional hub for the production and distribution of the foodstuff in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Lim In-Taek, President of Ice Bear, an import-export firm in Amman, told Petra that the proposed venture would more than 500 jobs, adding that the project was part of a wider future plan to produce other foodstuffs.
Lim added that the Kingdom had a unique investment climate, economic legislations and a strategic location as a gateway to Middle Eastern and North African markets.
He said that he had been in Jordan for 15 years, noting that the Kingdom had a lifestyle similar to South Korea and also had an abundance of resources and qualified manpower.
The business tycoon noted that he had established two factories in the Sahab Industrial City, one for blankets and the other for plastic covers and farm wire mesh production.
Lim indicated that he was working as an agent for the Korean giant Samyang Foods Company which produces the nutrient noodles.
The volume of trade is heavily in South Korea's favor as Jordan imports $400 million worth of auto-parts, according to official figures.
