Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Tribal leaders in the southern governorate of Maan approved a security truce to contain the violence that has afflicted the southern governorate in the past week over deaths and injuries that resulted from student clashes at Al Hussein Bin Talal University on Monday.

Tribal elders and leaders from throughout the kingdom headed to the funeral home opened by the al-Bawab family to accept condolences in the death of Mahmoud Al Bawab, an employee at Al Hussein University who was killed during Monday's deadly clashes.

The Tribal leaders reached an agreement to grant a one-month truce to give security agencies an opportunity to investigate the incident and arrest individuals responsible for the death of four people, including a university student, a visiting high school student, a policeman who is also a student at the university, in addition to Al Bawab.

The tribes signed a security "Atwah" (truce period granted in tribal code laws to contain violence and prevent revenge until final reconciliation is reached).

The tribal delegation from major Jordanian tribes asked the Ma'an tribes to commit to peace and order, and abstain from blocking major roads and acts of vandalism and violence.

The tribal delegation left the Bawab tribe after signing the truce agreement and headed to the Hweitat tribe in the Southern Badia district to request a security truce from the tribe, which lost two of its members in Monday's violence.
