Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Walid Maani on Monday underlined the importance of linking public and private universities to the Education Management Information System (EMIS).

Inaugurating a workshop on EMIS yesterday, Maani said the electronic system seeks to develop the higher education sector, noting that the system will provide data and needed analysis for future higher education policies and strategies.

At the end of the workshop, participants representing different universities formed a committee comprising members from the ministry, universities and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to study means to apply EMIS and obstacles hindering its implementation.

The committee has 30 days to come up with its recommendations before the new system is applied.
