Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - An elderly woman died on Monday after a fire erupted in her home in Jabal Shamali in Zarqa governorate.

Zarqa Civil Defense cadres were able to contain the fire, which initially caused a 75-year old woman to suffer breathing difficulties after inhaling fumes from the fire.

Press Spokesperson of the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) Major Basim Khalaf said that CDD cadres contained the fire and provided first-aid treatment to the injured woman, yet she was pronounced dead upon arriving at Prince Faisal Hospital in Zarqa.

The woman is reported to have died of asphyxiation.

The fire is reported to have been caused by an electrical glitch.
