30-08-2010 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMAN An Amman court on Monday handed down two men 22-year prison terms after they were found guilty in the Ministry of Agriculture embezzlement case.

The North Amman Court of First Instance also dismissed the charges against 7 other defendants after being found not guilty of embezzlement and negligence.

Earlier this month, the court gave the main defendents in the case two weeks to return the money they misappropriated last year, but in last week session they said they were unable to return any of the stolen funds.

The case goes back to 2009 after the agriculture ministry announced that around JD1.6 million was embezzled by some persons who forged the signatures of ministry officials.
