Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Muhammad Shaker - The kingdom will be affected by another seasonal heat wave starting on Wednesday with weather expected to be extremely hot and dry especially in the southern, eastern, and middle parts of the country.

This is the third such heat wave to affect the kingdom this summer, with temperatures this weekend expected to exceed their annual average by 9-11 degrees. The heat wave is expected to last until the middle of next week, reaching its peak on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and desert regions.

Temperatures Peak on Thursday, Friday and Saturday

The heat wave is expected to intensify in different parts of the kingdom on Thursday, especially in the southern, middle, and eastern parts of the Kingdom, whereas conditions in the north and northwestern parts are expected to be more moderate especially in high altitude areas, with northeasterly moderate winds in the northern and central parts of the kingdom and southeasterly moderate winds in the southern and eastern parts.

Temperatures will rise 9-11 degrees above their annual average, reaching record temperatures of 50 C in the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba. Temperatures will reach a high of 40 C in Amman and dropping to a low of 27 C overnight.

Conditions will be generally hot overnight, with northeasterly light winds.

Citizens are warned against direct sunlight exposure on Sunday and Monday, especially during noon and afternoon hours, and are advised to drink plenty of water and cold drinks to avoid dehydration.

On Friday, the heat wave will reach its peak pushing mercury levels to rise 11-13 degrees above their annual average, with temperatures reaching a high of 43 C in the capital Amman, and a low of 29 C. It will be hot and dry throughout the kingdom, turning to extremely hot in the noon and early afternoon hours.

Citizens are warned against direct sunlight exposure on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, especially during noon and afternoon hours, and are advised to drink plenty of water and cold drinks to avoid dehydration.

The heat wave is expected to taper off starting next Sunday but conditions will remain hot and dry until the middle of next week.
