GAM to shut down Abdali Friday market

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) –– The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced that it will close the Friday flea market in Abdali for organisational and planning purposes in order to bring it in line with health standards and alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

The director of GAM's markets department, Ahmad Muheirat, said the municipality started receiving applications from those interested in obtaining new stalls as of Saturday, noting that specific standards will be taken into consideration when selecting the owners of the stalls for security reasons.

He added that owners will be given temporary permits that can be withdrawn if licensing conditions are breached.
