Jordan military on Tuesday denied any gunfire from the kingdom to Israel. The Jordanian military official dismissed the reports as "baseless". In an interview with Ammonews, the Jordanian military official said that a cross border attack never occurred as reported by the Israeli army. "It is not true," he added, saying there was no gunfire shot against Israeli troops from southern Jordan. An Israeli spokesperson told AFP that an army patrol came under gunfire from inside Jordan early on Tuesday, adding that no one was hurt in the attack. "A border guard patrol near the Rabin crossing came under fire from an unknown source from inside Jordanian territory and fired back in their direction," an Israeli spokesman told AFP. However, witnesses told Al Jazeera Arabic that the assailant had crossed the Jordanian border at the Wadi Araba crossing and opened fire at the Israeli patrol from outside the Jordanian territories. Other sources said that four Israeli soldiers were injured, one seriously, in the shooting.
