Flames Engulf 'Ebbin' Forest

AMMONNEWS - A major fire erupted in the Ebbin forest, northern Jordan, on Tuesday afternoon engulfing nearly 70 dunums of woodlands.

Fire and rescue cadres at the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) of Ajloun and Jerash governorates rushed to the forest to contain the fire.

A CDD source in Ajloun said that flames engulfed nearly 70 dunums for over four hours on Tuesday afternoon.

Over 60 fire trucks rushed to the scene to contain the fire.

The source added that CDD and Ajloun Agriculture Department cadres will remain on the scene to monitor the fire and work to prevent renewed fires in the woodlands.

Police launched an investigation into the fire to determine whether arson is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
