Garments, pharmaceuticals lead growth in Jordan's exports
Jordan has witnessed significant growth in the export of garments and pharmaceuticals during the first nine months of 2024, contributing to an overall rise in national exports.
According to the Department of Statistics' foreign trade report, exports of garments and accessories surged by 25.6%, reaching JD1.237 billion, up from JD985 million in the same period last year.
Pharmaceutical exports also demonstrated strong growth, increasing by 18.3% to JD446 million, compared to JD377 million previously. Additionally, other materials saw an 8.6% rise, recording JD2.741 billion in exports, up from JD2.525 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
However, declines were noted in several key export categories. Exports of chemical fertilizers fell by 11.1% to JD695 million, down from JD782 million. Ornaments and jewelry exports dropped by 10.5%, recording JD544 million compared to JD608 million.
Raw potash exports decreased significantly by 29.3%, totaling JD364 million compared to JD515 million, while phosphate exports fell by 15% to JD386 million, down from JD454 million. Petra
