The Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, directed that Jordanian supporters should be permitted to enter Iraq without needing a visa.
This choice was made to enable Jordanian spectators to go to the game between the Jordanian and Iraqi national teams in Basra, as a part of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.
Khaled Kabyan, the Advisor for Youth and Sports Affairs to the Iraqi Prime Minister, stated that Jordanian fans are allowed to enter the country without a visa not only on the day of the match, but also before the scheduled game on the 14th at Basra International Stadium.
