WHO reestablish contact with staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza
The World Health Organization reported that they had reestablished communication with employees at the surrounded Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, and discovered that three medical personnel were hurt and 44 were held captive.
The director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, mentioned on Friday that despite being under siege, Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza is the only remaining operational hospital and contact with the staff has been established.
He stated that three health workers and one staff member were hurt, 44 health workers were taken into custody, and four ambulances were harmed.
On Friday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the Israeli occupation army entered Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp and arrested hundreds of Palestinians, including patients, medical personnel, and displaced individuals.
It was stated that the situation is extremely dire, with detainees lacking essential food, medicine, and medical supplies needed to treat the sick and injured in the hospital.
On Friday afternoon, the World Health Organization stated that they were unable to reach the hospital staff.
Tedros reported that the organization and its partner agencies successfully arrived at the hospital on Wednesday night and managed to move 23 patients and 26 caregivers to Al-Shifa Hospital.
He stated that there were approximately 200 patients at Kamal Adwan Hospital, with a constant influx of people suffering from shocking injuries. There are also many people crowded together, looking for shelter.
In his second post, Tedros pointed out that approximately 600 patients, health workers, and individuals are currently being accommodated in the hospital.
The Israeli military stated that it carried on with its activities in the hospital vicinity alongside the security forces utilizing intelligence data.
Kamal Adwan Hospital is the only hospital still operating to some extent in the northern Gaza Strip.
Ever since the war started in October, the hospital has faced a critical lack of medical supplies, medications, and fuel for the generator. The situation worsened when the Israeli ground invasion in northern Gaza began earlier this month.
