Culture minister inaugurates 2nd Aqaba Cultural Forum
Jordan, since its establishment, promoted cultural values, and reflected its achievements as an 'exceptional' case in the region in all development areas, primarily culture, Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh said.
The minister made the remarks while inaugurating activities of the 2nd Aqaba Cultural Forum Thursday, under the theme: 'Royal Support for Culture' as part of the Kingdom's celebrations of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
The minister stated the cultural achievements during the King's reign formed a 'historical' record and a memory for the coming generations.
The minister also referred to His Majesty's visions of culture as a basic driver of social awareness, focusing on the values ??of tolerance, partnership and dialogue, and rejection of violence and extremism that were embodied in the King's Discussion Papers.
Furthermore, he noted the King's visions in prioritizing economies of culture, artificial intelligence and the transition to digitization, which opens horizons for the future of generations, and the emphasis on adherence to Jordan's heritage.
Rawashdeh said the Ministry of Culture's plans, programs and projects are based on the National Cultural Strategy and Jordan's Arab-Islamic identity.
In this context, he added that the ministry's action is based on a 'cumulative' vision and seeks to build on Jordan's achievements made during the 25 years of His Majesty’s reign, in terms of infrastructure, primarily cultural centers, publishing programs, and artistic festivals.
