The number of checks in circulation in Jordan during the first nine months of 2024 reached 4.81 million checks, with a value of JD29.69 billion, according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).
According to statistics, the number of bounced checks in Jordan increased by 52.1% last September, compared to the previous month, reaching 20.9 thousand checks last month, compared to 13.8 thousand checks in August.
The value of returned checks in September 2024 amounted to JD130 million, compared to JD117 million in August of the same year, an increase of 11.8%.
14,443 thousand bounced checks worth JD95.4 million in September were for financial reasons, while 6,505 thousand checks worth JD34.9 million were for technical reasons, as the percentage of the number of bounced checks for financial reasons reached 68.9% compared to 31.1% for technical reasons, the statistics added.
Last September, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 624 thousand checks, compared to 474 thousand checks in the previous August, an increase of 31.6%.
The value of cheques in circulation during the month of September amounted to JD3.53 billion, compared to JD3.24 billion in August of the same year, an increase of 8.7%.
