Jordanian Field Hospital for Obstetrics, first of its kind in world
Director General of the Royal Medical Services, Brig. Gen. Yousef Zureikat, expected that the Jordanian field hospital, 'Obstetrics and Premature Infants/Khan Yunis', would begin operating in mid-November.
The field hospital for obstetrics and premature babies provides quality services because it is considered the first of its kind in the world because it is field-based, Zureikat said on Monday.
In a statement to Al-Mamlaka, he added that the hospital was equipped in Jordan in Al-Hussein Medical City, to be transferred to the Gaza Strip to support Palestinian women, as work is underway with the General Command Directorates of the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Gaza Municipality to prepare the hospital site on the land of Gaza before transferring it.
The hospital, which will be adjacent to the Jordanian field hospital Khan Yunis/4, includes 4 operating rooms for delivery, 30 beds for post-partum, 8 incubators in the premature baby section, and support departments.
The new hospital will be a tributary to the field hospital in Khan Yunis, Zureikat confirmed.
The Royal Medical Services has been operating a field hospital in Tal al-Hawa in Gaza since 2009, while during the war on Gaza it sent another field hospital to provide services in Khan Yunis since 2023, and the field hospital in Nablus.
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, followed up at Al Hussein Medical City the process of equipping the Jordanian field hospital 'Obstetrics and Premature Babies/Khan Yunis', which will be sent to Gaza soon.
