Gov't is studying establishment of national shipping company
Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni, revealed the preparation of a survey study of the Jordanian market to assess the need and feasibility of establishing a national maritime transport company by conducting an assessment of market demand with various partners.
During the Government Communication Forum, Government Spokesperson Muhannad Mubaiadeen, the Minister said that the necessary procedures are currently being completed to prepare economic feasibility studies for the project, and they will be announced later.
Regarding the Red Sea crisis, Tahtamouni noted that coordination has been made with the private sector to find new maritime transport routes 'feeder lines' to and from Aqaba, in light of the crisis that occurred in the Red Sea.
Tahtamouni also explained that the Arab Bridge Navigation Company has been supported and strengthened to provide an alternative for shipping exports through the Egyptian Mediterranean ports, in addition to supporting requests submitted by the private sector to receive ships arriving at the port of Aqaba.
