Jordan stands with all its capabilities to support UNRWA, FM says
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, said that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is worsening with the continuation of the Israeli aggression.
During a press conference held at the Ministry on Tuesday, with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, Safadi stressed that Jordan continues and stands with all its capabilities to provide the necessary support to UNRWA in light of the tragic circumstances that are increasingly exacerbated by the policies of the Israeli occupation.
Safadi also emphasized that UNRWA's ability to carry out its duty and serve the people of Gaza is still very limited due to the obstacles imposed by the occupation forces on the agency.
The quantities of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip do not meet the minimum needs and requirements of the Palestinians, Safadi pointed out.
He also stated that the ability of UNRWA and United Nations institutions and organizations to deliver aid declined significantly as a result of the Israeli occupation forces’ failure to respect their international obligations and provide protection for United Nations employees in Gaza.
