French Embassy, French Institute of Jordan organize concert performed by Amwaj Choir of Palestine
Under the patronage of H.E. Mrs. Haifa Najjar, Minister of Culture, the French Embassy and the French Institute of Jordan organize a concert performed by the Amwaj Choir of Palestine, on Tuesday 25 June, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Al Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman .
The Amwaj Choir of Palestine (Hebron / Bethlehem) presents a musical programme around ‘Dalia’, a character who represents the voices of peoples forced into exile. From a multilingual and plural creation, we enter the intimate universe of a young Syrian girl. Mirroring her story, the young choir singers were keen to dedicate their songs to the children of Gaza. With this new production, already performed in Belgium and France in February 2024, the artists wish to 'demonstrate solidarity, through art, with the suffering of the people' (Nelson Mandela).
A very special guest is expected... Jordanian soprano Zeina Barhoum will join our young singers on stage. AMWAJ CHOIR OF PALESTINE
Amwaj ('waves' in Arabic) is an independent educational program for children and youth, established in 2015 in Bethlehem and Hebron, in partnership with their respective cultural centers. Run by a mixed team of French and Palestinian educators, Amwaj provides young people with access to high-quality music education through an intensive program focused on collective singing. The choir explores a wide range of repertoires, from medieval music to contemporary creations, including world music and traditional Arabic songs.
