UN: Jordan's call to establish fund to support return of Syrians is very important
The UNHCR Representative to Jordan, Dominik Bartsch believes that the Jordanian call to establish a fund that supports the voluntary return of Syrian refugees is very important.
Bartsch pointed out that the initiative shows the need to consider return opportunities, and spoke of ongoing discussions about the proposal.
Bartsch also considered the Jordanian proposal a very important political signal.
During the ministerial meeting of the 8th Brussels Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi called for the establishment of a fund that supports the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
Jordan represents a role model in providing care to refugees, and has done its utmost to confirm that refugees are victims of the crisis, but it cannot continue providing services with this effort unless it receives support, Safadi added.
