Arab foreign ministers support mediation efforts to end war on Gaza
The Foreign Ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar and Egypt Monday discussed developments in the mediation efforts by Egypt Qatar and the USA to reach an exchange deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
In the virtual meeting, the foreign ministers of Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia affirmed their support for ceasefire efforts. The talks focused on the proposal presented by US President Joe Biden to achieve this on June 2.
They urged the parties to consider the US President's proposal 'seriously and positively' to agree on a deal leading to a permanent ceasefire and adequate aid delivery to all parts of Gaza.
They urged ending the Israeli war on Gaza and the 'humanitarian catastrophe' it is causing, the return of the displaced to their homes, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the launch of a reconstruction process within the framework of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution according to Security Council resolutions and with specific timings and guarantees.
