FM, Blinken discuss exchange deal, ceasefire efforts in Gaza
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received on Friday evening a phone call from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The two ministers discussed the efforts made to reach an immediate ceasefire, bring immediate and sufficient aid into the Gaza Strip, and agree on an exchange deal through negotiations conducted with Egyptian, Qatari and American efforts.
During the call, Safadi reaffirmed the necessity of stopping the aggression against Gaza and ending the humanitarian catastrophe it is causing immediately, opening all crossings to the entry of aid, enabling United Nations organizations to distribute it, and obligating Israel to respect international law and international humanitarian law.
Blinken gave Safadi details of the proposal announced by US President Joe Biden on Friday to complete an exchange deal mediated by the United States, Egypt and Qatar.
For his part, Safadi stressed that Jordan supports the efforts made by Egypt, Qatar and the United States to reach an exchange deal as quickly as possible.
