JD3.07 billion were paid via “CliQ” within 4 months in 2024
The total number of transactions executed with the instant payment system (CliQ) during the first third of 2024 reached 20.14 million transactions, with a value of JD3.07 billion, according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).
The value of transactions executed for the instant payment system last April amounted to JD849 million, compared to JD808 million in the previous month, an increase of 5.1%, Al-Mamlaka reported.
The total number of CliQ users in Jordan increased at the end of last April to 1.37 million users, compared to 1.33 million users in the previous March, an increase of 3.1%, a report by JoPACC reveled.
5.63 million transactions were carried out through the instant payment system through banks in April, compared to 5.29 million transactions last March, an increase of 6.6%.
The report showed that 4.93 million transactions were carried out for the purpose of transferring money, representing 87.5% of the volume of transactions, with a value of JD710 million, and the remaining 701,000 transactions were carried out as purchases, representing 12.5%, with a value of JD138.8 million, while the average value of money transfer transactions reached JD151.
96.7% of the customers of this system are Jordanians, numbering 1.33 million people, and 3.3% of the customers are non-Jordanians, numbering 45.3 thousand people, while 63% of the users are male, 866 thousand males, and 34.6% of female users, with a total number of 476 thousand females, the report added.
The user statistics were distributed by age group to 5,000 for the age group under 18 years, 532,000 for ages 18-30 years, 363,000 for ages 31-40 years, and 234,000 for ages 41-50 years, 141,000 customers aged 51-60 years, 61,000 customers aged 61-70 years, 15,000 customers aged 71-80 years, and 3,000 people aged 81-90 years.
On January 16, 2017, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) and 25 banks, all operating in Jordan, agreed to establish the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC), a private company limited by shares, headquartered in Amman - Jordan, with an authorized capital of JD12 million.
