Secretary-General of Jordan's Judicial Council (JJC), Ali Musimi, revealed that the Public Prosecution obtained more than JD16 million for the public treasury from economic, tax and customs crimes during the year 2023.
In a press conference on Thursday, Musimi said that the completion of cases in the courts increased by 2.5% in 2023.
He also noted that 421,457 lawsuits were registered during 2023, a decrease of 9% compared to 2022.
The quality of the judicial system's procedures increased to 66%, while the duration of litigation during the past year 2023 was shortened to 58 days, he added.
The number of cases received by the civil courts in 2023 reached 86,749 cases, and 88,978 cases were decided, with a completion rate of 102%, the Secretary-General stated, explaining that the number of pending cases decreased by 37% compared to 2013.
