Labor ministry: 507 cases of child labor with 242 violations in 2023
Ministry of Labor said on Wednesday that the number of cases of child labor discovered in 2023 reached 507 cases.
The ministry's media spokesperson, Muhammad Zyoud, pointed out that the inspection teams issued 242 violations and 259 warnings to employers who employed children in violation of the provisions of the law,
The number of complaints and reports that the ministry dealt with was 126 complaints and reports related to child labor, he added.
The ministry receives complaints regarding child labor (labor rights) via the (Hemayeh) website https://hemayeh.jo/, and it also receives reports about child labor cases via: https://childlabor.mol.gov.jo/, he noted.
The spokesperson stressed that the ministry, through the Department of Child Labor and Institutional Nurseries in the Inspection Department for Reduction of Child Labour, will work during the current year 2024 to increase the number of campaigns and inspection visits to private sector establishments in various sectors and economic activities to ensure that they do not employ children, in addition to implementing a set of activities to raise awareness of the community and to parents in schools about the danger of child labor.
