NCSC records 2,455 cyber incidents in 2023 with losses up to JD200mln
National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), Bassam Maharmeh, said on Tuesday that the center dealt with 2,455 cyber incidents in 2023.
In a press statements during the Government Communication Forum, under the title 'The Reality of Cybersecurity in Jordan 2023,' Maharmeh added that the rate of increase in cyber incidents increased by 80% in 2023, attributing this to increasing the center’s ability to detect, in addition that attacks are increasing in all countries of the world, along with the increase in digital transformation.
Cybersecurity gangs are active in Jordan and the entire world and target institutions for the purpose of financial extortion, he noted.
Maharmeh pointed out that the losses of the Jordanian economy as a result of cyber attacks amount to $150-200 million.
He also stated that Jordan has taken steady and distinctive steps in digitizing government services, and that our economy should be dependent on technology and leadership, noting that the number of citizens who use cyberspace to complete financial transactions and movements has increased.
The financial inclusion rate reached 47%, doubling over the past years, Maharmeh said, stressing that 66%of the global economy depends on digitalization.
