Germany delivers medical goods to support Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza
A German plane carrying medical equipment and supplies for the Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza landed in Jordan on Tuesday.
The delivery, which includes surgical material and patient monitors, is the first in a series of joint German-Jordanian efforts to provide humanitarian assistance and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population.
At the handover, the Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Jordan, Dr. Florian Reindel, said: „We greatly admire the work of the Jordanian Royal Medical Services, whose members risk their lives every day to provide medical assistance to Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Germany wants to support these important efforts in whatever way we can.“
Since October, the German Government has almost tripled its humanitarian support for the Palestinian people and sent multiple relief flights to the region. This comes in addition to ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure greater humanitarian access to Gaza and achieve a sustainable ceasefire. Germany is currently the biggest humanitarian donor for Gaza and the West Bank with 203 million euros of assistance in 2023.
