Awqaf Ministry to launch multilingual Friday sermon translation initiative
The Ministry Of Awqaf And Islamic Affairs has embarked on an innovative approach to making the Friday sermon more accessible to a diverse audience by initiating a comprehensive translation endeavor.
This initiative is being rolled out at the Saad bin Rabee Mosque situated in the Industrial City of Al Hassan within the Ramtha District, known for hosting approximately 4,000 workers, mostly expatriates.
In a statement on Monday, Minister of Awqaf Mohammad Khalaileh expressed the Ministry's commitment to ensuring the dissemination of the moderate Islamic message to non-Arabic speakers through the translation of Friday sermons into multiple languages.
The inaugural implementation at the Saad bin Rabee Mosque in the Ramtha District targets a substantial foreign workforce, enabling them to comprehend the sermon's contents, and promoting religious literacy, and the propagation of Islamic teachings.
'The Ministry intends to expand this translation initiative to other locations densely populated with foreign labor in the near future,' he added.
The minister also emphasized the significance of the Amman Message, initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which focused on elucidating the principles of moderate Islam to diverse communities, noting that the Friday sermon translation initiative aligns seamlessly with the goals of this Message.
The endeavor seeks to facilitate a wider congregation's understanding by offering translations of the Friday sermon in English, Bengali, and Tamil languages and will be delivered directly to the Indian and Bengali Muslim community immediately after the Friday prayers.
